THE WHISPER BEFORE THE STORY…

There are no happy endings here.
Only fragments of what’s left, stitched together in silence.

Untold stories of the women who were never saved—who lived anyway.

BLEEDING. BECOMING.
SOFT ENOUGH TO ACHE.
SHARP ENOUGH TO SURVIVE.

I’m Kaitlyn—
Curator of the Unspoken

Portrait of dark fantasy romance author, Kaitlyn L. Hill, in a leather jacket and intense eye stare.

Currently…

I live in the wide open prairies of Alberta while craving the mist enveloping the Scottish Highlands. I drink too much caffeine (in the form of coffee and Alani), intently study my astrology chart (and yours), and believe that magic happens in the anguish—in the breaking moments—not the escape.

I’m an author, farm girl, historian, drilling heiress, and a thousand things in between…
but stories have always been my way through.

And now? They’re the pulse I offer back.

Before I ever wrote a book,

I studied history and classics, dreaming of uncovering lost myths and lost stories in dusty archives. I spent years working in libraries, quietly hoping I’d stumble across a manuscript that could open a portal to another world.

When I realized I wasn’t going to find a portal, I created my own.
First through the lens of my camera, photographing couples obsessively in love and bringing their personal romantasy to life.

But then I started writing them.

Author, Kaitlyn L. Hill, with her two dogs, Molly and Hades, in a field in Alberta, Canada.

WHY I WRITE

I don’t write stories to escape.
I write them to understand.

To make sense of the hurt. The rage. The quiet unravelling.

My characters definitely aren’t perfect—they’re haunted. Fierce.
Tender in places they wish they weren’t.
They burn things down in hopes of revealing a lighter path.

I don’t craft happy endings.

Never have. Never will.
These are the legends about you—
The women who survive without needing to be saved.
Because is anyone coming for us, anyway?

I write for the ones who ache and endure.

I write fantasy romance (and more) because you’ve never seen yourself in a perfect fairytale.
You’ve clawed your way out of silence and still carry splinters of pain.

You need dark stories with soft cores.
Enemies-to-lovers with knife-edge longing.
Romantasy—or more accurate, traumantasy—that tastes like grief, lust, and a little bit of blood.

And you’re not alone…

Fantasies That Burn

• Romance woven through ruin
• Magic systems built on grief, hunger, or power
• Chosen ones who never really wanted to be

WHAT I WRITE

I don’t write one kind of story.
I write whatever the melancholy demands.

Sometimes that looks like fantasy drenched in romance, where magic and ruin live side by side.
Other times, it’s a psychological spiral in the shape of a love story.
Or a slow-burning descent into obsession.
And sometimes a quiet unravelling dressed up as a cozy escape.

But no matter the world—

My stories always hold women at their edge.
Fierce, fractured, and trying to make sense of the hollow silence—with a lot of spice in between.

Obsession in Slow Motion

• Psychological spirals shaped like love stories
• Longing that tastes like punishment
• Mirror scenes, unreliable narrators, broken timelines

Cozy, With a Crack in It

• Comfort laced with dread
• Quiet escapes where something’s just a little off
• Love interests who feel like home… or a haunting

The Girls Who Endure

• Survivors who never lost their softness
• Rage as reclamation
• Characters who aren’t likable, but are unforgettable

I write for the ones who’ve endured.
Who feel a yearning hunger deep within.

Letters from the Ashes

If you’ve made it this far, you already know—these stories aren’t just fiction.
They’re fragments.

OF SURVIVAL. OF WOE. OF NEED.

And maybe of you, too.

I write Letters from the Ashes for women like us—
still becoming. Still unlearning trauma. Still finding our true self.
They’re not tips or tactics.
They’re emails laced with my whispers to  the dark.

It’s a quiet place to come home to.

Okay, what else should you know about the girl with the keyboard?

A few quirks of mine…

• I send my friends voice memos like curated podcasts—unhinged, overanalyzed, and way too long

• It’s impossible for me to watch LOTR without quoting the entire script—POE-TAY-TOE

• I’ll stare at a blank Google Doc for 5 hours, close my laptop, and call it a hard days work done

• I’ve welcomed two hellhounds into my realm—Hades and Molly—and they’ll forever possess my heart and soul

• Every day I’m just vibing off of caffeine, Vyvanse, and T-Swift
